The field notebooks of Charles Ross (b. 16 Apr 1933). Ross was a biology professor at Western Washington University (1967-2004). Prior to that he completed a BA at the University of Colorado and a PhD at Yale University. He worked for some years at the Illinois State Geological Survey prior to joining the geology faculty at Western Washington University in 1964. He worked for a time in the oil industry before returning to Western Washington University in 1992. His work focuses on foraminifera and their use in biostratigraphy, particularly of the Pennsylvanian-Permian rocks of the Glass Mountains in west Texas. He was awarded the Moore Medal for Excellence in Paleontology by SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology) in 2002.
